Visiting Phonograph Expert to Present at Edison and Ford Winter Estates

FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 6, 2024) — Edison phonograph expert, John Paul Kurdyla, Jr.
will give phonograph presentations on May 15 and May 22 at 1:30 p.m. in the Learning Laboratory, a new exhibit space inside the museum at Edison and Ford Winter Estates (EFWE). During his presentation, he will demonstrate how to make a recording with his tin foil phono and recording device. The presentations are included with admission.
Kurdyla lives in Padua, Italy and has one of the largest private collections of phonographs, gramophones and Edison memorabilia. His interest in music began with the accordion at the age of six and he has been a historian of the “talking machine” for more than 40 years. An expert on Edison recorded sound, he authored the book “When Music Was Magic,” which is available in the EFWE museum store.
