Santa is Coming to Town at Edison and Ford Winter Estates Singers, dancers and pianist perform on select nights
FORT MYERS, Fla. (December 10, 2020) — The 45th Holiday Nights celebration is underway at Edison and Ford Winter Estates. Several guest appearances have been scheduled for next week. Santa is coming to town on December 16 and will be in Edison’s Study from 6 to 8 p.m.; plexiglass will separate Santa from visitors and the number of people surrounding Santa will be monitored for adequate social distancing. For everyone’s safety, masks are required during Holiday Nights.

The Fort Myers Mastersingers will sing in the River Pavilion on December 17 from 6:30-8 p.m., and students from Oak Hammock Middle School will dance for visitors on December 18 at 6 and 7:30 p.m. A pianist will perform on December 11, 18 and 19. There will be strolling carolers on December 11 and 12.
Visitors will be treated to a family science show on December 11 and 18 at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. The Magic of the Holiday’s Science Shows will delight children and adults alike when the Wild Wizard conducts experiments with unexpected results. The show will incorporate different aspects of science from chemistry to physics and is designed to inspire curiosity and fun.

Oak Hammock Middle School is dedicated to keeping the arts in public schools. The OHMS dance team is comprised of a group of 14 amazing young dancers. They will present “The Gift of Dance.” The talented young athletes are dedicated to dancing six to eight hours every week, for eight months of the year. These students are also required to maintain a 3.2 GPA in order to be a member.
Visitors can see the lights nightly through January 3 (closed Christmas day). Guided Holiday Tradition Tours will be offered at 6 and 7 p.m. every night and visitors can also take self-guided tours of the site. A guided, Inside-the-Homes tour will be offered on December 18 for a special up-close look at the homes’ interiors (reservations required at 239-335-3674). The museum and lab will be closed during Holiday Nights. The event is sponsored by FPL, Sanibel Captiva Community Bank, and Sunbelt Rentals.
Families can stroll through the Children’s Tree Trail, which features dozens of trees decorated with handmade ornaments from Lee County school children. This year, the tree trail will be displayed along the Ford property, where visitors will have room to adequately social distance. WGCU is the Children’s Tree Trail sponsor.
The Ford Cottage Shoppe, Museum Store and Garden Shoppe will be open until 9 p.m. every night and will be stocked with unique gift items for that hard-to-buy-for loved one. Several vendors will be on site Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and also on December 20 through 23 with refreshments available for purchase.
Holiday Nights tickets for adults are $20, teens (13-19) $10, children (6-12) are $2 and Edison Ford members get in free. Guided Holiday Tradition Tours are $30 for adults, teens are $25, children $18 and $10 for Edison Ford members. Inside-the-Homes Holiday Tours are $50.
