Robotics Classes for Students Offered at Edison and Ford Winter Estates
FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 25, 2019) — Edison and Ford Winter Estates is offering a series of robotics classes on Sundays, starting March 31 for students in grades 4-8. Students will learn the skills necessary to build a robot or design an invention and can enroll in the entire series or take individual classes that run from 1-3 p.m. each week.
Introduction to LEGO Mindstorms, March 31
Students will be introduced to the key concepts of robotics and learn about the Mindstorms hardware, software and
mechanics. This robotics foundation class teaches the basic skills needed to advance from concept to a roving robot.
Motors and Movement, April 7
This class focuses on mechanical designs that become more complex as students begin to learn about the motors, manipulators and attachments.
Sensors and Loops, April 14
Students will learn to program a robot to escape a maze. They will be introduced to EV3 sensors as they learn more advanced coding skills.
Advanced Sensors and Loops, April 21
In this class, students will apply previous knowledge with code and mechanics to participate in a battle of the bots.
Advanced Competition Techniques, April 28
Robotic complexity continues to increase as students are taught advanced techniques that can be deployed at robotic tournaments.
Complete the Mission, May 5
In this final class, students will apply all they have learned to accomplish as many LEGO based problems as possible by the end of the class.
