Fine art conservator, Jeremy Fogg, to give a presentation on conserving an oil painting at Edison and Ford Winter Estates.
FORT MYERS, Fla. (February 20, 2020) — On March 4, at 10 a.m., fine art conservator, Jeremy Fogg, will present “Real or Fake: How to tell if an oil painting is genuine” at Edison and Ford Winter Estates. The presentation will focus on inspection techniques, material identification, and clues to look for when identifying the origin and age of a painting. The presentation is part of the monthly volunteer lecture series and will be held in the South Florida Water Management building at 2301 McGregor Boulevard.
Fogg will give a second presentation that same day at 6:30 p.m. on the process of conserving oil paintings. He will discuss paintings in the Edison Ford archives that are not yet on display and are in need of conservation work. Participants will be able to see a painting that has had conservation work done and will be unveiled for the first time in many years. Registration is required for the evening event.
Fogg is the owner of Anthony Moore Painting Conservation in York, Maine. He has restored, researched, and sold works by some of the world’s most famous artists, including Raphael, John Singer Sargent, Gilbert Stuart, Rockwell Kent and many more. In January 2017, he and his business partners purchased the long-standing fine art auction house, Barridoff Galleries, based in Portland Maine.
Both presentations are free; however, donations are encouraged.
