Guided Tours in German Offered at Edison and Ford Winter Estates
FORT MYERS, Fla. (December 1, 2021) — With the growing population of German snowbirds and tourists arriving on direct flights from Germany, Edison and Ford Winter Estates is offering guided tours in German, starting on December 8. These tours are led by a trained site historian whose native language is German and provide the same educational experience as the English tours. Tours in German will be offered each Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Guided tours are now offered in German at Edison and Ford Winter Estates.
For visitors that wish to stroll at their own pace, German language can be selected on the Edison Ford App and guests can listen to the narration as they meander around the site.
The homes are nestled along the Caloosahatchee River, showcasing a beautiful view and cool breezes. Highlights of the tour include the historic winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, Edison’s study and Moonlight Garden, the caretaker’s houses, the 15,000-square-foot inventions museum, the botanic research laboratory (a National Historic Chemical Landmark), 10 antique Ford vehicles, and thousands of plants from around the world on 20 acres of botanical gardens.
During the tour, visitors learn how many patents Edison had, how Edison and Ford met and became friends, how their inventions forever changed peoples’ lives, and how the two icons spurred the growth of a small cattle town into a bustling international tourist destination.
Guided tours are $30 per person and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Free, on-site parking is available. The Museum Store is stocked with Edison and Ford souvenirs, educational items, games, books, t-shirts, hats and many other items. Following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control, masks are recommended when indoors or when social distancing cannot be achieved. For more information, visit EdisonFord.org.
