Edison and Ford Winter Estates Offering Study Hall for Virtual School Students
FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 11, 2020) — Edison and Ford Winter Estates is offering a place for Lee County virtual students to study so parents are able to go to work. The new Study Hall program will provide a place for kids to attend their virtual classes, in a small group setting of no more than eight students. Students will be separated into two grade groups (third through fifth and sixth through eighth).

run by the same education staff who teach the summer camp classes and will be open on all days that Lee County schools are open. Cost is $125 per week, or $100 per week for members.
“This is a great opportunity for parents that have to go to work but don’t feel comfortable sending their children back to school,” said Mike Cosden, Vice President of Interpretation. “Day to day, the Study Hall program will operate similarly to a summer camp, with parent pick up and drop off.”
What will be provided:
- Small group setting (8 students or less) for virtual schoolwork
- Social distancing protocols for students and staff
- Structured daily routine
- Reliable computers, internet connection, and printers (students may also bring their own laptops, headphones, etc.)
- Regular outside time on the 20 acre historic site
- “Field trips” to the museum and historic structures during off-peak times
- Trained education staff supervision at all times (note: tutoring is not available, but basic assistance and direction will be provided)
- Strict staff safety protocols in place (masks and other PPE are used at all times, all staff receive daily temperature and wellness screenings, regular interaction limited to small group of education staff)
- Daily sanitizing of work-spaces, bathrooms, and common areas
- Note: Cost will be prorated during weeks with a school holiday
Parents to provide:
- Virtual school registration
- Daily snacks and lunches
- A mask (students will receive regular breaks for snacks, water, and specific outside time when a mask is not required)
Times:
- Grades 3-5: Drop off at 8 a.m., pick up at 3 p.m.
- Grades 6-8: Drop off at 9 a.m., pick up at 4 p.m.
