Edison and Ford Winter Estates Hosts Third Annual Ford Legacy Summit
FORT MYERS, Fla. (January 2, 2020) — Edison and Ford Winter Estates recently hosted the annual Ford Legacy Summit. The site was selected as the meeting location for the leadership staff from more than a dozen prominent Ford legacy organizations around the country. Now in its third year, the Summit provides a place for organizations to come together. This year, the following purpose statement was created to better define the role the group will follow as they move forward: The Ford Legacy Summit is an annual gathering of Ford-related organizations with the goal of exploring ideas, sharing resources, building relationships, and increasing awareness of the Ford legacy.

“We were proud to host this important meeting at our site, and to share what makes the Edison and Ford Winter Estates such a unique place,” said Mike Cosden, Vice President. “Summit attendees also experienced much of what makes southwest Florida so special: the diverse history and culture of the River District, the natural beauty of the Caloosahatchee, and of course, a respite from the snowy weather that many of their home sites were experiencing.”
The organizations that participated in the Summit include Berry College, Edison and Ford Winter Estates, Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, Fair Lane, Henry Ford Health System, Ford Piquette Plant, The Ford Foundation, The Ford Motor Company, The Henry Ford Heritage Association, The Henry Ford Museum, and Richmond Hill (in Georgia).
In addition to meeting at and seeing the historic site, the group was also able to experience several River District restaurants, a tour of Downtown Fort Myers, and a ride in an antique Ford from the local Model A Club. Going forward, Edison Ford staff will continue to participate in the Summit, which will take place at a different Ford legacy location each year. Berry College in Rome, Georgia will host the 2020 Ford Legacy Summit in the fall.
