Classes and Camps for Kids Offered at Edison and Ford Winter Estates
FORT MYERS, Fla. (December 4, 2020) — Edison and Ford Winter Estates offers classes and camps for kids throughout the year. School break camp options are available for students aged six to 12 years, and preschool programs are available for children aged 18 months to five years. A program for homeschooled children is also available. Students will explore the “living laboratory” of the Estates while learning topics in STEAM (science technology, engineering, art, and math), as well as history and the natural world. Edison Ford members receive discounted registration fees.

Preschool Programs
Emerging Inventors: Buzzing Bounty
Ages 18 months to 5 years
December 7, 10 a.m.
For children ages 18 months to five years, Emerging Inventors programs include socializing with other children, educational activities, science experiments, and exploration of the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. Bees are buzzing in the hive at Edison Ford. Students will learn about the pollinators, enjoy the sweet taste of honey and make a beeswax candle fit for a birthday cake. Edison Ford Members: $10; or $130 for the series, non-members: $15; or $190 for the series. Includes one adult (mask required) and one child (mask not required). Limit 6 per class.
Emerging Inventors: Holiday Fun
Ages 18 months to 5 years
December 15 and 21, 10 a.m.
While the Florida sun is shining, this program will help kids get in the holiday spirit. Students will build a marshmallow snowman, string a popcorn garland, and celebrate the season with some traditional charm. Edison Ford Members: $10; or $130 for the series, non-members: $15; or $190 for the series. Includes one adult (mask required) and one child (mask not required).
School Break Camp
Light Science “Camp In A Box”
Ages 6-12
December 21-24, 9 a.m.
Campers aged 6-12 will explore the “living laboratory” of the Edison and Ford Winter Estates while the Wild Wizards teach topics in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math), as well as history and the natural world. In this session, students will complete “Camp in a Box” experiments and activities from home, while learning about learn about refraction and the science of light. Supplies and support from staff will be provided. Edison Ford Members: $55; non-members: $65
School Break Camp
Backyard Botany “Camp In A Box”
Ages 6-12
December 28-31, 9 a.m.
Students will complete “Camp in a Box” experiments and activities from home. Supplies and support from staff will be provided. Students will complete hands-on activities related to biology and plant life. Edison Ford members: $55; non-members: $65
Homeschool Science Scholars: Earth Science
Grades 1-3: December 9, 11 a.m.
Grades 4-6: December 10, 11 a.m.
Grades 7-8: December 11, 11 a.m.
Students will explore the “living laboratory” of the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. The Wild Wizards will challenge the mind and foster collaboration in this homeschool science and engineering series. Classes will take place in an outdoor classroom environment. In this session, from the rock cycle to the water cycle, students will learn all about the earth. Edison Ford Members: $10; or $60 for series; non-members: $15; or $95 for series. Includes one adult and one child. Limit 10. Masks are required for all participants.
