Plant Spotlight: Asian Snow
November 27, 2018
We may not get blizzards in Southwest Florida, but you can tell your northern friends you have “snow” in your yard after you’ve planted some Asian snow, Wrightia antidysenterica.
Asian snow blooms with small white flowers all year long. This well-behaved plant requires very little trimming and keeps a neat shape. It can take full sun or part-shade and will grow to five to six feet tall. Asian snow is great for containers and small spaces in the landscape. As you may have guessed from the Latin name, the plant is known to possess anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties and has been used as a medicine for abdominal disorders. Provide regular moisture and protection if the temperature drop near freezing, and Asian snow will reward you with continuous flowering and constant beauty. Come by our Garden Shoppe and take home a few Asian snow plants for your landscape. Our Garden Shoppe is open extended hours during Holiday Nights, so you can shop until 9 pm most nights from now until Dec. 30.
