Creative Centerpieces
February 1, 2020
If you’ve ever been to a wedding reception, you’ve probably noticed the table centerpieces. These decorative arrangements help set the ambiance and tone for even the smallest reception. There are many different kinds of centerpieces and some can be made at home, for less than half the price you would buy them for! Here are three of the most popular centerpieces we’ve seen at our events.
Mason Jars
There are so many things you can do with a simple mason jar! For outdoor venues, these little jars can help light up the night with just a little love. One popular way of using a mason jar as a centerpiece is to add flowers – anything from the bridal party bouquets, to just a simple strand of baby’s breath. Adding tea lights or fairy lights creates a sense of elegance, while at the same time, helps to keep decoration costs low. Another way to use a mason jar is for extra lighting, which can coordinate with the theme of the wedding. In the long run, the simplest things can make a big impact.
Paper Lanterns
Although many venues do not allow paper lanterns because of the fire hazard they present, there’s no harm in using them as centerpieces! Just be sure to use an electric candle. Paper lanterns can be purchased online in bulk and customized any way you like. You can add character by just adding small flowers on the top of each one – and you can save even more money if you use artificial flowers from your local craft store. A little ribbon can dress it up and add an essence of formality. Lanterns can even be painted to coordinate with your overall wedding theme.
Wine Bottles
If you love wine and collect the bottles, this may be the least expensive option for you! Some of the best centerpieces come from things that you might have in your home, such as wine bottles. You can use different shapes, sizes and glass color for variety, or use the same type of bottle for each table, for a more uniform look. They are super easy to customize for many different wedding styles. The bottles can be painted, stuffed to the brim with lights and flowers, or used as a simple vase. The beauty of wine bottles, just like mason jars, is that they are very versatile! Wine bottles can also be used for any style of wedding – rustic, formal, simple or elegant. They can be as elaborate or simple as you like, which is what makes them one of the most popular centerpiece choices.
Bonus: If your wedding date is right after the holidays, you can use fresh pine branches to decorate the tables. Pine adds a fresh scent and a sense of winter to any ceremony or reception.
