Edison and Ford Winter Estates Recognizes Supporters
FORT MYERS, Fla. (January 4, 2024) — For many residents in Southwest Florida, strolling the grounds at Edison and Ford Winter Estates between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day to see the Holiday Nights light show is a tradition. Some visitors come from other areas of the state, others from across the country, and some take in the light display while visiting from as far away as China.
The Estates is a non-profit and relies heavily on ticket sales, memberships, donations and sponsorships to cover daily operational expenses. Financially, the organization is recovering from the financial losses due to Hurricane Ian. Ticket sales from the recent Holiday Nights fundraiser earned the Estates their second-best year with more than 20,000 visitors.
“Each year, we try to make the lights more spectacular than the year before,” said Mike Flanders, President and CEO of Edison and Ford Winter Estates. “Without our sponsors, that wouldn’t be possible. We want to thank Florida Power & Light, Bob Dean Supply, Neal Communities, Sunbelt Rentals, and TriCircle Pavers for making this past year one of our best. We also want to thank Dave Elias with NBC-2 for orchestrating our opening night, and everyone in the community who came out to see the lights this past holiday season,” said Flanders.

Throughout the year, the Estates offer educational programs and events for residents and visitors to learn something new and have a community location for entertainment. In addition to daily tours, tribute concerts, gardening and art classes, plant sales, history presentations, and summer camp are just a few of the ways residents and visitors can enjoy the site, while supporting the legacies of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Some events, such as the spring and autumn garden festival attract thousands of visitors, providing a marketing opportunity for sponsoring businesses.
