Clara Ford Rose Garden to be Installed
Clara Bryant Ford, the wife of Henry Ford for 59 years, loved roses. Fair Lane, the Ford’s Michigan estate, had more than 350 varieties of roses and 10,000 rose plants in their five acre garden.
In honor of Clara’s birthday and Henry’s 150th coming up on July 30th, Edison Ford horticulture staff will be installing a small historic rose garden at The Mangoes, the Ford’s winter estate.
The unveiling of the garden will be held in July in honor of Henry Ford’s 150th birthday. Funding for the Clara Ford Rose Garden, provided by Peggy Campbell, great-niece of Clara Bryant Ford.
The Tea Ceremony | Wedding Ceremony Ideas
We know that you are looking for unique wedding ceremony ideas to make your wedding ceremony memorable. The Tea Ceremony, common in Chinese weddings, has become popular in the U.S.
During the wedding ceremony, tea is served to the groom’s parents first, then the bride’s parents. In some cultures, this is a symbol of great love and respect.

Personalizing your ceremony can be a collaborative effort with your officiate. For more wedding ceremony ideas, visit www.beautifulfloridaweddings.com.

Edison Ford Celebrates National Arbor Day

Thomas and Mina Edison are joined in tree planting by Edison Ford garden patron, Berne Davis, and a member of the Fort Myers-Lee County Garden Council.
Edison Ford Tree Planting April 26 – 10:00 a.m. In observance of National Arbor Day, the Edison and Ford Winter Estates will be planting a coconut palm tree on the Edison Estate to continue the restoration of this historic landscape of the two estates and historic McGregor Boulevard. The public is invited to join in the ceremony with students from the nearby Edison Park Creative and Expressive School for the Arts.
Edison Ford has planted new trees every Arbor Day for many years and also added other trees throughout the year to maintain the old fashioned plants and trees on the historical site. More than a hundred years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Edison planted dozens of coconut palms at their tropical winter estate, locating most of them in the coconut grove along the river and along the McGregor Boulevard fence. Eventually the line of coconut palms extended to the Ford estate next door and became an important and recognizable feature of the Edison and Ford tropical gardens.
Since 1872 Arbor Day has been a national holiday celebrated each year by planting a tree. The public can support the Edison Coconut Palm Restoration Project by contributing funds to purchase a tree. Contributions are tax deductible and includes donation signage. For more information call 239-334-7419 or visit us on the Web.

Wedding Makeup: The Dos & Don’ts for a Florida Wedding
by Dani Taverna, Duality Artistry

With the allure of warm weather and beautiful, sandy beaches, brides all over the world dream of a Florida destination wedding. It’s no secret that Florida can be hot and humid all year long; so, I’ll share with you my Wedding Makeup Dos & Don’ts along with some tips on how your makeup application needs to change to accommodate Florida’s unique climate.
My top 5 Dos and Don’ts:
• DO wear a UVA/UVB, spf 30 on your face and body every day upon arrival to Florida.
• DO use bronzers on your face and body for a healthy, bronze glow.
• DON’T spray tan for the first time the day before your wedding. Experiment with different tones and get sprayed at least five days before your big event.
• DO schedule waxing and facials to be done at least 3 days before your wedding. Exfoliate the night before with a gentle, nonabrasive face wash.
• DON’T forget to drink plenty of water to keep your skin and body hydrated!

In Florida’s hot, humid sun, it’s all about primers for eyes, face and lips! Using primers under your foundation gives longevity to makeup, smooths skin’s texture and
minimizes pores. I prefer an oil free primer for most skin types. Priming your eye lids from the lash line to brow will hold powders in place (no creasing) and your shadows will
appear more vibrant. Apply primer to your lips to keep lipstick from feathering or bleeding.
Prone to crying? Use waterproof mascara and eyeliner. Choose brown or purple for more natural look. Black can be a bit harsh in photos.
Beach weddings can be breezy, so use very little gloss if wearing a veil.
Be confident with your look and say I DO!

Joining Two Families | Wedding Ceremony Ideas
For second marriages or when there are children from a previous relationship, joining the entire family during the wedding ceremony is important.
Here are some wedding ceremony ideas that involve children.
- The couple may take vows regarding the children
- A token of love may be presented to the children to commemorate the occasion
- A sand ceremony may be performed that includes a color of sand for each member of the new household

The Wine Ceremony | Wedding Ceremony Ideas
If you are looking for wedding ceremony ideas to make your wedding ceremony special, consider including a wine ceremony.
In a wine ceremony the couple gives each other a drink of wine from the same glass after the rings are exchanged. It serves as a reminder that although one may perceive the wine as sweet, and the other as dry, being right is not more important than being happy. By putting one’s commitment to love first, their lives will grow deeper and richer like a rare and fine wine.
