Edison Ford Self-Guided Tour – Daily

Enjoy a self-guided tour of the Edison and Ford families’ historic homes and gardens, museum (including antique automobiles), and laboratory at your own pace. The last ticket is sold at 4:30 p.m. daily (although we recommend arriving no later than 3:30 p.m. to allow time to see everything on site), and the site closes at 5:30 p.m. Reservations are not required. Available in English, German, French, and Spanish via the free Edison Ford app.

If you would like to listen to audio content during this tour, the virtual guide is available via an app (in the app store for Apple or Android phones), the web, or by dialing a phone number while on site. Click here to get started. Audio content covers the homes and gardens, banyan tree and lab, and takes approximately 60 minutes. Allow additional time to view the museum and laboratory, which are also included with your admission.

Edison Ford Guided Tour – Daily

Enthusiastic historians lead groups in immersive tours of the historic homes and gardens of the Edison and Ford families. Allow 60 minutes for the tour and additional time to view the museum and laboratory, which are also included in the ticket price.

Guided tours are offered regularly throughout the day, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket counter. (The schedule varies daily but the first tour is normally around 10:00 – 10:30 and the last around 2:00 p.m.)

Automotive Tour – Mondays, 10:30 a.m.

The Edison Ford automobile collection includes a number of historic and antique vehicles. This special guided tour focuses on the unique collection, the history of the vehicles and how they operate, and is led by an automotive expert. Cost of the Automotive Tour includes the self-guided tour admission with access to the entire site.

Tour time: Approximately 90 minutes.

Tickets for the Automotive Tour are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket counter, and can only be purchased on the day of the tour. We recommend arriving by 10:00 a.m. to purchase your tickets.

Inside the Homes Tour – Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.

The Inside the Homes Tour takes visitors through normally-closed areas of Thomas Edison’s and Henry Ford’s winter estate homes. Tours are led by Edison Ford curatorial staff and expert historians. Visitors will enjoy rooms not seen during other tours. The tour is offered in a small-group format to allow for questions and discussion.

For persons with limited mobility, please speak with a staff member about special accommodations when making a reservation.

Tour time: Approximately 90 minutes

Spots are limited. Call 239-335-3674 to reserve a spot on the Thursday tour.

On Tuesdays, reservations are first come, first served.

Members receive half off on the Inside the Homes tour.

For German speaking visitors, Edison Ford offers a German language tour led by an Edison Ford Site Historian on Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m. The tour includes the historic homes and gardens presented in German.

Tour time: Approximately one hour.
Tickets for the German language tour are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket counter. Allow additional time to see the museum and lab exhibits.

Private Guided Tours

Small groups wishing to have a private guided historian tour should complete our tour inquiry form or call 239-334-7419 for details. Private tours start at a flat rate of $450 for up to 15 people (or $600 during peak season, January through March) and are subject to availability. Please allow at least 5 days advance notice.
